Poeticus Severus – Pactvs (2026) is the album marking the celebration of the Brazilian band’s 30-year journey in the underground scene. Formed in 1997 in Rio de Janeiro by Cesar Severus, the group is known for a style that blends operatic heavy metal, ambient elements, and epic black metal (also described as “Operetus Barbaricus Metal”), featuring themes linked to Thelema.

The album is presented as a new chapter comprising nine tracks. It combines re-recordings of career classics—such as “Armorial” and “Para além do inferno”—with brand-new compositions. These new songs deepen the band’s signature essence and atmosphere, maintaining the epic, atmospheric, and solemn character that defines Cesar Severus’s work.

The title Pactvs (a Latinized spelling of “pactus,” referring to a pact, agreement, or commitment) reinforces the idea of ​​a milestone—a “pact” with the band’s own history of three decades dedicated to Brazilian extreme metal.

The main physical edition comes in a jewel case accompanied by a 20-page booklet. The layout and interior illustrations are by Cesar Severus, while the cover art and main illustrations are by Cecília Katrini (the current lineup’s keyboardist and a frequent collaborator).

Cesar Severus handles vocals and guitars (and, more recently, drums and bass on recordings). Cecília Katrini contributes on keyboards. The band has remained consistently active in recent years with releases such as Fulgor Sombrio (2023), O Rugir da Ira (2024), the compilation Nox Chaos Triumphans (2025), and the EP Severos Sigilos da Guerra (2025), paving the way for this commemorative work.

In short, Pactvs functions both as a retrospective (via re-recordings of historic tracks) and as a continuation of the band’s current sound: atmospheric, epic, and rooted in Brazilian black metal with operatic and ambient touches. It is a release that celebrates the longevity and aesthetic consistency of a three-decade-long underground project, with a strong emphasis on physical material and visual art.
